A Question To Warm Up!

Posted in
So-
I got brain storming and I thought; WHO DOES DIDDY THINK HE IS?

- Yesterday was the birthday of one of the greatest artists to ever touch a microphone. A man who changed the entire face of hip hop and forever resurfaced the entire music industry. Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs made his entire career off this man's talent and most of all this man's life. Back then "Puffy" was all about The Notorious B.I.G. but nowadays it seems as though the newly found hundred millionaire "Diddy" has completely forsaken the memory of the man who made his life what it is. So the question at this point stands:

Does Diddy have the right to name Rick Ross "The Teflon Don"? In other words the next Biggie Smalls?

- Just wondering people, and BTW.....those in favor better come with some bullets for that gun!

honestly.. diddy is nowhere close to what he thinks he is. he is not an icon, like you said he made his career off of biggie. and rick ross is not even close to what biggie was; diddy definitely does not have the right to name rick ross anything, nor does anyone else.

I'm fuckin wit katie on this. I do think Diddy is an icon of sorts, but the biggie legacy wasn't an event only HE is attached to, so with regard to that, I'm not feelin this BIGGIE II shit i'm feeling with rick ross lately. I love rick ross' music, but its a little too much for me personally. Maybe the young homies will bite into that more than I.

In response to this post and the one after it:

I cant deal with this. I am still holding on to Biggie's memory and the memory of the mid-90's when Kim was FIRE! I refuse to let Nikki Minaj ruin that for me.

She has a great flow, but she has no idea what to do with it. One minute she has a British accent, the next she sounds like shes hopped up on helium. I need consistency. As for Rick Ross...Please.

Diddy knows he will never be able to replace those two but I'd sure like to see him try.

So you're excited to see if he can pull it off too?! lol Here up north i feel like we have an uncontrollable tendency to root for diddy. We all know none of our sports teams have mascots, except for Mr. Mets. I guess Diddy stands in. I wish him luck with this shit, simply cuz i don't want our territory to take another negative look.

Personally i felt like he should have made more use of his relationship with Red Cafe before the next endeavor...but who am I to suggest something to the man that brought us Biggie?!

As far as Nicki Minaj. I feel she's dope too, and bad as hell. However, i do agree there's no style that she's grounded to securely yet. She still has the potential to disappear after this year, at this point from where i stand. When lil Wayne comes back, that's gonna be an entirely different scene again too!

haha the east coast is strugglin! [joe budden all day haha had to throw that in there.] but no, i do not like or respect nikki minaj. her flow is awful and her voice is annoying. she makes ugly bitches think theyre bad, that thrye barbies. honey.. no. and she is not that bad. i give credit where its due and she does not get much credit from me. shes trying to take over the game too quickly, is how i feel personally. good for her that shes gettin on tracks with big names, but her lyrics have nothing to do with the concept of the songs.. "its goin down, basement" really? i can make a much better analogy and look at who i am. and for diddy.. im lovin dirty money as of late though.

LOL damn. I gotta agree i think Nicki Minaj could have gotten alot more done from the position she was in before she went nuts cross marketing with the music and switching management. Of course, I'm only speaking without taking the full situation into account, but it's definitely lookin' like she's movin a lil quick with regards to taking over the game. But how much time does she have to make her moves with Lil Kim trying to sit back in the throne? Trina's not slouching lately either

Jay is the key to this argument. DOA was a statement, he made the song to bring hip hop back to its roots. Back to the days when singers were singers and rappers had bars. These days it feels like everyone wants to recreate the old school in the new school. Anyway, let's not veer of course. Jay signed Kim for one reason, to blow away any idea of a replacement. If Biggie had been alive today you should honestly ask yourself, would Rick Ross have been able to step to him? There's your definitive answer, and Jay knows it. Jay and Diddy are in a silent war. King of New York. I think Jay sees his opportunity to take the throne and make a positive statement to all the true hip hop fans while doing it.

Rick Ross shouldn't even have any relation to Biggie. We shouldn't even think of one and think of the other. I just don't know about that shit...Diddy and Jay might have a lil competition heating up though. That'd be huge for NY, as it can't get bigger than them 2.
